Lu Pearson, Retired RN and Certified End-of-Life Doula, in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur

Lu Pearson · Todos Santos, Baja California Sur
Meet Lu

After a lifetime beside the dying, she wrote it all down.

For decades, in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Lu Pearson has sat with people at the end of their lives and with the families who love them. The Adios Amigos Guide is everything she has learned, made available to expat families across Mexico before they need it.

Lu spent many years of her working life as a Registered Nurse before becoming a Certified End-of-Life Doula and Holistic Health Practitioner. She has been in the room, in both a clinical and a deeply human capacity, more times than she can count.

The families who work with her get two things at once: the medical clarity of someone who understands what is happening in the body, and the unhurried presence of someone who has stayed long after the clinical work was done.

That combination is not a credential. It is a life.

This work has never been theory for Lu. She walked this road herself when her own son received a terminal diagnosis: the denial, the helplessness, and the love that has nowhere to go. She teaches from inside the room she is describing, not from a distance.

Across her years on the Baja peninsula, Lu watched the same thing happen again and again. Families who had built beautiful lives in Mexico were blindsided at the end by a legal and medical reality that works nothing like it does back home, and almost no one had told them what to expect.

So she wrote it all down, and put it on camera. The Adios Amigos Guide is everything she knows, made available to families anywhere in Mexico before they need it, so that no one has to face the hardest moment of their life alone and unprepared.

A lifetime of sitting with the dying, gathered for the families who made Mexico home.

Walk it with Lu.

If you are walking this road now, or quietly preparing for the day it arrives, Lu would be honored to walk it with you.
